Here’s a little piece of exciting comedy news: comedian Ted Alexandro and longtime creative partner Hollis James have created a series called Teachers Lounge, wherein Ted and Hollis play best friends, a music teacher and janitor, respectively. In order to survive the repetitive nature of their jobs at a New York City elementary school, the two escape to the teachers lounge as often as possible.
Sidenote: Both Ted and Hollis have real-life experience working in the world of children. Ted was, in fact, a music teacher and Hollis wrote and edited children’s books; he even worked as Barney at kids’ birthday parties. It’s true!
I’m told that four episodes of Teachers Lounge have already been shot. And while it was originally planned as a Web series, the project is now being shopped as a television show. Wait, it gets better: Comedians Lewis Black, Judah Friedlander, Judy Gold and Janeane Garofalo co-star. Also, Ted Leo? Check out the teaser below.
