To say comedy — especially stand-up comedy — is a rough, mostly thankless business, would be a severe understatement. Any comedian, even the hugely popular ones, will tell you they’ve experienced many more embarrassing failures than they have had unmitigated successes. Great comedians are able to harness those awful experiences and perhaps create better comedy. Such is the case with Melinda Hill, who, during last season of America’s Got Talent bombed horribly. Above is a photo of her. Bombing. In front a giant rendition of her name.
During a performance at the Sit N Spin storytelling series on the Comedy Central Stage in Los Angeles, Hill recounted her experience on the reality competition show on NBC. It’s an expertly-crafted story full of laughs, life lessons and hard truths. Without further exposition, here it is. Please let us know what you think in comments section. Enjoy!
