One of the most divisive figures in pop music will join one of the most divisive figures on television. Taylor Swift, the songstress many people love to hate, will team up with Zooey Deschanel, whose likable demeanor both on and off her hit show New Girl, is, for some reason, routinely called into question.

It seems Swift will drop in on the May 14 episode, where she’ll “play a character named Elaine, who is an ‘important guest’ at the wedding of Cece (Hannah Simone) and Shivrang (Satya Bhabha),” according to Entertainment Weekly. Swift joins the likes of Nick Kroll, Olivia Munn and Jamie Lee Curtis, who have also guest starred on the current season of New Girl. We wonder if the show writers have any plans to work in a line or two about Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for Swift’s character.

Thanks for sharing this news! I am not the biggest fan of Taylor Swift, but I do think it’s pretty cool she’ll be in the finale of one of my favorite shows. I’m excited to see what her character’s role will be, so I’ll definitely make it a point to catch the finale live. Normally I miss New Girl because of my work schedule at DISH, but on May 14th I’ll just watch with my phone. I’ve downloaded the DISH Anywhere app recently and can now watch all of my shows from home anywhere I go, so watching Taylor live May 14th during my lunch break will be no problem! :)
