One of the many things I love about David Letterman is his ability to conduct honest interviews with so-called stars—and by “honest,” I mean he really doesn’t give a shit if a celebrity ever returns to his show. Allow me to submit this clip from last night’s Late Show, wherein he confronts Lindsay Lohan about her upcoming court-ordered rehab stint. While Lohan squirms a bit when he brings it up – “we didn’t mention this in the pre-interview” – she holds her own just fine, and the seasoned host somehow avoids becoming a complete dick about it. Check it out!

After the show taped, Lohan actually tweeted, “Had a wonderful time at the @Late_Show. It was great fun! #iHeartDave,” which makes you wonder that perhaps the embattled actress needs to be confronted more often. Think about it: she respects being called out on national television.

I actually don’t like Letterman. He gets great people to interview, and asks them questions like “how’s the family?” or “how are the kids?”, which are topics I generally don’t care about. Even if he gets an interesting guest, his interview is everything but.
