Last week found comedy fans buried in a flurry of network television news, what with the announcements of new show pick-ups and current show cancellations. And this week, we’ll begin to hear about each network’s new fall programming schedules. Since we’re interested in comedy only at Laughspin, we’ll start distilling some of that information network by network. So, let’s begin with Tuesdays on Fox, which is really the only day we need to worry about until later in the season.

On Tuesday, Seth MacFarlane’s first ever live-action series Dads starring Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi will air at 8 pm ET. (MacFarlane produced his first live-action series The Winner in 2007, which lasted only six episodes on Fox). Brooklyn Nine-Nine (starring Andy Samberg as a slacker detective; pictured above) will follow while returning comedies New Girl and The Mindy Project will round out the night at 9 and 9:30, respectively.

The comedy offerings will increase when midseason begins as the network will add the returning Raising Hope and the long-awaited Animation Domination High Definition block, a series of warped cartoons that will run each Saturday from 11 pm to 12:30 am.

And of course there’s the midseason debut of Fox’s flagship comedies (minus The Cleveland Show, which was canceled after four seasons): Each Sunday, you’ll find The Simpsons at 8 pm, Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy and American Dad rounding things out at 9:30 pm.

New comedies that will premiere later than fall include Enlisted (about three siblings working on a military base in Florida), Surviving Jack starring Christopher Meloni (based on Justin Halpern’s book I Suck at Girls) and Us and Them (Jason Ritter, Alexis Bledel, Jane Kaczmarek, Kerri Kenney), which centers on Ritter and Bledel’s characters’ long-distance relationship.

UPDATE: 7:15 pm ET

  • This writer sucks

This is Seth MacFarlane’s SECOND live-action sitcom! “The Winner” was his first attempt. Do the bare minimum of research!! Yeesh!

fixed above, since you were so nice about it.

  • Mike Newman

All of these are stupid. They appeal to the lowest common denominator. I have a brain and therefore I’m not part of the target audience.
