For the past few years, Montreal’s Just For Laughs comedy festival has established a stellar industry conference that runs simultaneously during the last few days of the month-long event. Set to run from July 25 through July 27, the Just For Laughs ComedyPro conference will announce its participants on May 23, but if the past is any indication, registrants can expect some amazingly engaging, entertaining and informative panels, comedian speeches and more. Below, you can check out some 2012 highlights, featuring Patton Oswalt, Paul F. Tompkins, Andy Kindler and more!

What’s really cool about the conference is that it’s not just a one-way street; it’s not just comedy bigwigs talking at attendees. Like last year, this year’s conference affords up-and-coming television writers and Web series producers an opportunity to get discovered. You can be selected to pitch live and in front of a panel of comedy experts during the conference. And although the deadlines were set to end already, they’ve been extended through this Friday, May 17 at midnight.

For the TV Comedy Search, “Five finalists will be selected to pitch live during ‘From Set to Screen’ before a panel of comedy experts. One winner will be selected for exclusive showcase opportunities and participation at the 2013 New York Television Festival in October.”

For the Web Series pitch, “A maximum of three (3) projects will be selected. Accepted applicants will be given five (5) minutes to present their work in an open-forum pitch session to a panel of industry experts. The winner will receive the opportunity to become an official YouTube Partner and to have their content highlighted across the YouTube site.”

You should head on over to the conference’s official rules page here to get all the information you need. Do it!
