Having already established herself as a renaissance woman, Aisha Tyler has given us yet another reason to love her– she’s added music video producer to her long list of achievements. The new Silversun Pickups video – for the song “Simmer” — just went live on YouTube, and it turns out Tyler shot, directed and edited the entire thing.

The 7-minute mostly black-and-white piece plays more like a short film than a traditional music video. It’s a love note to the art of live performance and perhaps, more importantly, the concept of fandom — the camera rests on the band singing autographs, enjoying backstage life, being interviewed – which, coming from a celebrity herself, makes “Simmer” all the more sincere. At one point even, Tyler’s hand comes into frame to high-five frontman Brian Aubert before he hits the stage.

Check out the entire thing below.

Tyler’s second book, Self-Inflicted Wounds: Heartwarming Tales of Epic Humiliation, will be out in stores and online July 9, she’s the new host of Whose Line is it Anyway? (premiering this summer on The CW), she’s the host of the massively popular Girl on Guy podcast, she’s a co-host on CBS’ daily chat show The Talk, she’s returning as Lana Kane on the fifth season of FX’s animated series Archer and she’ll be on the road doing stand-up starting next month. Like I said– renaissance woman.
