When Russell Brand dropped by to visit Morning Joe on MSNBC this week, his main objective was to promote his new stand-up tour The Messiah Complex. But as we saw, what he got were three co-hosts who barely seemed to know who he was and didn’t bother to do any research.

Katy Kay basically sat there the entire time with fear in her eyes, uttering nonsense here and there. Brian Shactman acted like a frat boy who’s never seen a comedian or heard a British accent, constantly explaining to his co-hosts that he couldn’t understand Brand. He also repeatedly referred to Brand as “he” and “him” instead of simply addressing the comedian– even after Brand called him out on it. But it was Mika Brzezinski (pictured below) who fell the hardest, especially after Brand jokingly flirted with her near the start of the segment.

To say she was flummoxed would be an understatement. She could barely keep it together for the rest of the segment. And we weren’t the only ones who noticed. Co-host of The View and comedian Sherri Shepherd thought Brand’s appearance was mesmerizing.

“I watched that clip and Russell Brand turned all of them over on their asses. He dominated them,” Shepherd tells Laughspin. “And first of all, Mika ain’t never had a man make her feel like that in her damn life. Mika Brzezinski went home and laid in her bed all night thinking about Russell Brand. You can see it. Every time he did a subtle wink… I don’t care how far you moved in that chair of yours, he made you hot and heavy. She ain’t never had that feeling before.”

Sherri Shepherd’s first hour-long stand-up comedy special It’s My Time To Talk premieres on Epix on Friday, June 21 at 10 pm ET. Keep your eyes on Laughspin.com for our full-length interview with Sherri.
