Hugely popular comedian Anjelah Johnson’s alter-ego Bon Qui Qui has landed herself a deal with Atlantic Records. “Bon Qui Qui is coming out with a whole album,” Johnson tells Laughspin. “We’re pretty excited about it.”

Johnson’s character, a disgruntled fast food employee, debuted in 2007 on Fox’s sketch show MADtv. But last year, Johnson gave Bon Qui Qui new life when she came out as a rapper in the video for “I’m A Cut You.” This Friday, the follow-up video, “No Boyfren,” premieres on NUVOtv at 10 pm ET. And her newest hour-long stand-up comedy special, The Homecoming Show, will premiere on July 20 at 10 pm also on NUVOtv.

Earlier this year, Bon Qui Qui got yet another push when Johnson (as Bon Qui Qui) appeared in a viral video campaign for fashion label Alexander Wang alongside the likes of Victoria’s Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio and musician A$AP Rocky. “It’s great seeing that people still love this character and want to hear more from her,” Johnson tells Laughspin. “The sky’s the limit.”

Check out a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the “No Boyfren” video, featuring singer, actress and former American Idol winner Jordin Sparks.
