Just For Laughs unveils the New Faces of Comedy for 2013

JFL 700The Just For Laughs comedy festival and the ComedyPro conference in Montreal is once again rolling out the world’s best up-and-coming comedians in a series of live showcases. Dubbed the New Faces of Comedy, each year, the industry’s eyes sets its sights on a select list of comedians set to make a huge mark in the world of comedy that year. This year, as was the case last year, the talent is divided into four categories– stand-up comedians, “characters” (aka sketch players) and “Unrepped,” aka those looking for agents and managers and finally, “homegrown,” aka those from great country of Canada. In the stand-up category, the list is as follows:


Byron Bowers, Gina Brillon, Kevin Christy, Pete Davidson, Chris Distefano, Sean Donnelly, Derek Gaines, Dan Gill, Rick Glassman, Ian Karmel, Damien Lemon, Josh Adam Meyers, Sam Morril, Aparna Nancherla, Adam Newman, Mark Normand, Esther Povitsky, Andrew Santino, Andrew Schulz, Dave Stone, Alice Wetterlund and Brooks Wheelan.

The “characters” are as follows:

Russ Armstrong, Jen Bartels, Dan Klein, Jessica Lowe, Samantha Martin, John Milhiser, Sarah Nowak, Conner O’Malley and Mark Raterman

And the “Unrepped” comics are as follows:

Mac Blake, Alli Breen, Brian Jian, Mike Lebovitz, Amber Nelson, Andrew Orvedahl, Mike Polk Jr, Dave Smith, Doug Smith, Shane Torres and Joe Zimmerman

There’s also a local pool of talent the festival honors as New Faces. They are as follows:

Christophe Davidson, Ivan Decker, Craig Fay, Andrew Johnston,Graham Kay, Chris Locke, Bryan O’Gorman, Keith Sarnoski and Derek Sweet.
