Lucille Ball Comedy Festival begins Aug. 1 with Kathleen Madigan, Bill Engvall and more

lucille ball fest editIn celebration of one of comedy’s greatest legends, The Lucy Desi Center for Comedy is presenting the Lucille Ball Comedy Festival tomorrow, Aug. 1 through Sunday in Ball’s hometown of Jamestown, NY. The next four days are packed with events from live stand-up performances from the likes of Bill Engvall and Kathleen Madigan to memorabilia auctions and hometown bus tours.

And for the first time in the fest’s history, a comedy album will be recorded throughout the festival weekend. Sixteen rising comedians performances will be recorded in the Tropicana Room during Comedy Late Night, 10:30 pm August 1, 2 and 3 for the album entitled Live from Jamestown: The Lucille Ball Comedy Festival, co-produced by RooftopComedy. Hosted by Tammy Pescatelli, comedians Jackie Kashian, Myq Kaplan, Harrison Greenbaum, Cy Amundson, Keith Alberstadt, Joe Machi, Kelly Collette, Josh Gondelman, Jim Tews, Mark Normand, Andy Sandford, Andy Hendrickson, Calise Hawkins, Andi Smith, Kelly MacFarland and Sean Keane. will be featured on the the recording. There are only 90 seats available each night to watch the comedians live, so buy your tickets fast!

Other events throughout the weekend include Lucy Radio Comedy Live Onstage — which will be performed in the style of “old time radio” — complete with sound effects and snazzy actors with microphones, as well as the Pandora Comedy™ ‘Comics to Watch’ showcase on Aug. 1, and daily festivities at the newly-renovated art deco train station.
