It seems that pretty soon Amy Poehler’s lovable Leslie Knope will not have her uber-supportive friend Ann Perkins around much longer– nor will she have the painfully positive Chris Traeger to buoy her spirits. Both Rashida Jones and Rob Lowe will be exiting Parks and Recreation, according to BuzzFeed, who reports, “Sources have confirmed Lowe’s and Jones’ departures…will take place in the show’s 13th episode (likely landing during February sweeps).”
By the end of last season, viewers saw Ann and Chris — an on-and-off couple — attempting to have a baby. Season six is scheduled to premiere on Sept. 26 with an hour-long episode shot in London. The absence of Jones and Lowe’s characters might explain why Parks and Rec have already lined up high-profile guest stars like Kristen Bell and Henry Winkler; perhaps if viewers respond well, one or both may become full-time castmembers. After all, Lowe was only hired for a multi-episode arc in season two.
