A much-deserved biopic of late comedian Sam Kinison is finally on in the works and actor/writer Josh Gad has been cast as the legendary comedian. Larry Charles (Borat, Bruno) will direct and Rich Wilkes wrote the script based on the book Brother Sam, written by Kinison’s brother, Bill. Deadline reports the film will cover everything from the 1980s on, especially his transition from Pentecostal preacher to a manic stand-up comedian. Producers are still looking to cast actors and comedians as public figures who played important people in Kinison’s life, such as Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker, Oral Roberts, Richard Pryor, and more.
