While Donald Glover is planning his exit from Community, he’s already lining up his next television project– and not surprisingly, he’s landed at FX, who has been relentless in their comedy programming the last few years. Glover is developing a half-hour series tentatively titled Atlanta, on which he’ll star, write and produce, reports Deadline. The show would center on the city’s music scene. Glover, an Atlanta native, is also a successful hip-hop artist — stage name Childish Gambino — so writing a show about the very industry in which he’s deeply embedded makes sense. Several networks were interested in Atlanta, but it seems FX beat out competitors because of their willingness to work around Grover’s music schedule. Glover will appear in the first five episodes of Community’s upcoming 13-episode season before being written out.
