At the age of 24, Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant has earned more accolades than most any other veteran athlete will ever enjoy. He’s got an Olympic gold medal, he was the NBA’s rookie of the year for the 2007-2008 season, he’s snagged three scoring titles and he’s been an All-Star four times. But in in alternate world, Durant just wants to be treated like everyone else. Enter: Hannibal Buress, who stars in this just-released commercial for Nike and Foot Locker. “I’m really excited to sell shoes,” Buress tells Laughspin. “Kevin was a cool dude. I dunked on him twice between takes. He didn’t handle it well.”
We find the Chicago-bred comedian announcing a well-attended pick-up game of hoops, in which Durant just happens to be participating. As he makes nice with each player, bestowing upon them increasingly elaborate backstories and nicknames, Buress has something else in store for Durant. And Durant is not happy. At All. Check it out.
