While Saturday Night Live will enter its 39th season without the help from recently departed veterans Jason Sudeikis, Fred Armisen and Bill Hader, they’ll at least have former head writer, “Weekend Update” co-host, and all-around comedy powerhouse Tina Fey. NBC announced today that Fey will host the season premiere on Sept. 28 and will welcome Arcade Fire as musical guest. It’ll be Fey’s fourth time hosting; she’s done the job in 2008, 2010 and 2011. NBC also announced that Miley Cyrus will pull double-duty has host and musical guest on Oct. 5 and Bruce Willis will host on Oct. 12 with Katy Perry as musical guest; it’s both stars’ second appearances on the show.
Rumors have circulated that senior writer Michael Patrick O’Brien as well as actors Beck Bennett, John Milhiser, Kyle Mooney and Noël Wells are being seriously considered as players on the upcoming season. Head writer Seth Meyers will leave SNL in the middle of the season to replace Jimmy Fallon at Late Night, as Fallon moves to replace Jay Leno at The Tonight Show.
