We told you back in the spring that Garfunkel & Oates’ self-titled comedy series was one of many comedies in development at IFC. Well, we are pleased to report that the musically comedic duo’s show has been greenlit for the network’s 2014 line-up.

Garfunkel & Oates will follow the pair’s “aspirations and misadventures” in their personal and professional lives. The two characters, who sing satirical and sometimes dirty songs, have little in common with their peers and have no one but each other to turn to for support.

The move shows IFC’s continued commitment to creativing authentic comedies from talented minds. The network has also signed a deal with the Earwolf podcast network for a potential project titled The Embassy from podcast regular and stand-up comedian James Adomian. Adomian would play multiple characters in the Washington D.C. embassy of the fictional nation Costa Verde. The show would showcase Adomian’s incredible acting and impression abilities as well as an avenue to display his writing skills.

IFC’s schedule continues to get stronger one show at a time every year. Garfunkel & Oates joins another semi-autobiographical success, Maron, podcast-turned-television-show Comedy Bang! Bang!, and hipster sketch show Portlandia.

Maybe we’ll see an amusing story involving an I-Don’t-Understand-Job!
