Indie comedy darling Kristen Schaal might be headed to the big time. She, along with her producing partner (and husband) Rich Blomquist just inked a deal with ABC to star in a comedy series called American Monster. If the network picks up the show to series, we’ll see Schaal star as a troubled suburbanite who becomes somewhat of a celebrity when she’s forced into a murder-related trial, according to Deadline. Blomquist and Schaal will write the script.

For the last few years Schaal has become a go-to utility comedian for a diverse array of projects. The veteran stand-up comedian is an occasional correspondent for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, voices Louise on Fox’s animated hit Bob’s Burgers and voiced characters in two of the biggest animated films of the year— Despicable Me 2 and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2.
