A How I Met Your Mother spinoff is officially one step closer to happening. CBS announced that it will produce a pilot from HIMYM co-creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas (as well as Up All Night creator Emily Spivey). How I Met Your Dad will tell the story from a female point of view. It has been described as an all-new story with different characters and a new narrarator. The network is hoping that the spinoff will be just as much of a hit as the original.

This is the third comedy pilot order from CBS, joining The McCarthys and an autobiographical sitcom from Jim Gaffigan, which the network originally passed on last year.
