Alec Baldwin makes gay joke in San Francisco to reverse recent bad press

In an effort to reverse his current public image after calling a photographer a cocksucking fag, former 30 Rock star Alec Baldwin made a gay joke last night in front of a San Francisco technology conference audience. “I want you to be my lover,” Baldwin said to a male member of his staff, according to the Associated Press. “I want you to be my lover, Matt. I love you, Matt. I love you in that way.”

Baldwin’s comments went down at the ServiceSource International Inc. conference, whose organizers almost canceled his appearance after his run-in with a New York paparazzo. Baldwin has since apologized for his comment, but his newest employer MSNBC suspended his show, Up Late with Alec Baldwin for two weeks after the incident.

“If any word is remotely offensive to people, then I’m perfectly willing to learn a different word,” he also said last night at the conference. But Baldwin, 55, also seemed to imply he was a victim of the modern age. There’s “a drive-by justice to the Internet society,” he said. “They indict you, convict you and hang you on the same day.”

Yes, Alec. If you act like a buffoon, you’re going to get called out. Sorry about that, pal.

I don’t necessarily think this bit of news was a terrible thing that Baldwin did. Calling someone a fag is bad, but jokingly saying you wish someone were your lover isn’t.
