After two seasons on MTV, the network has decided not to renew Nikki and Sara Live for a third. The show’s co-hosts, comedians Nikki Glaser and Sara Schaefer made the announcement on today’s episode of their long-running podcast You Had To Be There. “We’re sad to report that MTV did not pick us up for a third season,” Schaefer said, jokingly adding, “Collective shock around the world.”

The pair taped the episode in front of about 20 friends, most of which were staffers on the late night show. Schaefer went on to explain:

To clarify we were not canceled. We weren’t picked up. Canceled implies at midseason they axed you because you were failing. We were not failing. I want to be very clear. Our ratings were up from season one. Our ratings were comparable, if not better, than every other cable, late night show. I’m very proud of the show that we did. I’m very grateful that we got to do it. But MTV decided it just wasn’t part of their programming future. And that’s ok. That’s their prerogative. They gave us a show to begin with and I have nothing but gratitude for that.

Nikki and Sara Live aired live every Tuesday at 11 pm ET on MTV. The show featured guests like Justin Timberlake, Johnny Knoxville, Arsenio Hall, Ke$ha and many more. You can listen the latest episode of You Had To Be There below.
