It doesn’t hit theaters until March 21, but a new trailer for Muppets Most Wanted – the sequel to the 2011 blockbuster – has just been released, and it gives us a much deeper look into the flick’s feel (it’s shot really dark) and plot. If you’re yearning for those Cold War days, it looks like this movie is going to hit the spot in a very big way. You see, there’s an evil Kermit the Frog doppelganger named Constantine. And he’s got a foreign accent. And he’s described as the “world’s most dangerous frog.” Well, this bad guy Constantine has a habit of committing crimes— stealing stuff and escaping prisons! And since he looks just like Kermit, save for one identifying physical trait, our favorite felt amphibian gets thrown in jail. But it’s worse, because it’s not in the greatest nation in the world! USA! USA! USA!

Anyway, it looks entertaining enough, what with Ricky Gervais, Ty Burrell and Tina Fey as the lead humans. Though we think the quality of the film will depend on how serious it takes its seemingly flimsy, slightly xenophobic storyline. Check out the trailer and tell us what you think.

We’re worrying about xenophobia in Muppet movies now? You may be over-thinking it just a bit.

I can’t tell if that last line was meant as a joke or not. You worry how serious a MUPPET MOVIE is going to take its storyline?
