The extremely popular New York public access program, The Chris Gethard Show, might make it to national broadcast. Comedy Central has ordered a pilot from the comedian, who currently produces the live call-in show. Funny Or Die will produce the Comedy Central project as a possible late-night addition to its extremely successful @midnight, which was recently picked up for 40 additional weeks.
Comedy Central continues to make popular moves to increase its late-night presence, which six months ago solely conisted of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. Its post-midnight programming previously consisted of re-runs of its popular shows Tosh.0, Key & Peele and South Park.
The oddball alternative show, which originated as a live stage show at the UCB Theater in New York, has featured celebrity guests Zach Galifianakis (who will executive produce on the pilot), Seth Meyers, Amy Poehler and, a live stream at the show’s website.
