Since tickets for its July 1 reunion performance sold out in “43.5 seconds” and then an additional four dates sold out shortly thereafter, Monty Python has announced they’ll perform an extra five shows at the O2 Arena in London.
“The response to our planned reunion has been very, very silly,” John Cleese said. “But, we’re all touched that so many fans still want to see such old people perform. So we’re delighted to be adding more dates to the run at the O2.”
So, as it stands now, the Monty Python Live (Mostly) show will go down on July 1 -5 and then July 15, 16, 18, 19 and 20. Tickets for the latter shows will go on sale this Friday, Nov. 29. You can get more info MontyPythonLive.com.
This will be the first time in 15 years that members Terry Jones, John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Gilliam and Michael Palin will all perform together, the last time being at the Aspen Comedy Festival in 1998. The sixth member of Monty Python, Graham Chapman, died of cancer in 1989.
