On a brand new special episode of The Laughspin Podcast, I chat with comedian Mike Birbiglia, who has just released a new CD, DVD and digital download called My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend. If the title sounds familiar, it’s because this impeccable mix of straight-up stand-up and expertly crafted stories had a long successful life well before it was available for home consumption. I’m talking about a life that included 81 sold-out shows in New York, performances in 70 cities as well as Canada, the U.K. and Australia and a finale performance at Carnegie Hall in June.

So, of course mike and I talk about My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend. And we talk about his new hour of material titled Thank God For Jokes, which he’s bringing on the road starting Jan. 15. We also delve into the rapidly-changing state of comedy and how the digital age affects it, why Birbigs is so into yoga these days, how Mike wanted to be a priest when he was a kid and so much more. So, just click play below to start listening (or click one of the links below the widget if you want to listen on iTunes or Stitcher).

One last thing, my intro here is a bit longer than usual, so if you don’t want to hear it, skip to the 4:20 mark. Enjoy!
