Kevin Hart is gearing up to make another slam dunk movie. The superstar stand-up comedian has signed on to co-star in the Universal Pictures comedy Ballers with Miami Heat basketball star LeBron James. Hart plays a man who lives in the shadow of his NBA superstar brother (James), but gets a chance to shine when he and some friends attend a weekend fantasy basketball camp in Miami. The massive height difference between the “brothers”— Hart is 5’2″ while James hails in at 6’8″— should make for some hilarious physical comedy. Maybe we’ll see LeBron dunk the Ride Along star through the hoop?
Hart will co-write the feature with his writing pals Joey Wells, Chris Spencer, and Harry Ratchford. The comedian is on a roll with four star-studded films coming out in 2014: Grudge Match, alongside Robert DeNiro and Sylvestor Stallone (which actually comes out on Christmas Day as it rolls into the new year); Ride Along with Ice Cube; About Last Night; and the sequel to his breakout acting movie, Think Like a Man Too. His 2013 stand-up concert movie Let Me Explain grossed over $30 million at the box office. Ballers will be LeBron James’ feature starring debut and will shoot next summer when the four-time MVP is in the off-season. We’ve seen the vertically-challenged comedian play ball for the last two years in the NBA Celebrity All-Star Game, where he won the MVP award both years…just like his big “brother.”
