Kanye West thinks only comedians should be heckled (Video)

At a show in San Antonio this past Sunday, rapper Kanye West stopped what was most likely an incredibly moving performance– a brilliant mix of music and performance art. He did so because he felt he needed to eject an audience member. The reason was simple: she was heckling. Ok, not a great move— seeing as this was going down in an arena and not a small club. You’d think a seasoned performer like West could learn to ignore one person out of thousands. But what happened next is really fucked up.

He says the following to the woman who was heckling. “Do I look like a motherfucking comedian? Don’t fucking heckle me. I’m Kanye motherfucking West!”

So, according to Kanye West, only comedians should be heckled. Comedians, those lowly, horrible, simple-minded scumbags who just prance onstage and talk about whatever is on their mind. Those fuckers deserve to be verbally harassed. And to answer your question, Kanye. Yes, you do look like a “motherfucking comedian.” And you sound like one as well. Have you looked at yourself lately? Have you listened to the mind-bogglingly hilarious things you say to the press and onstage on a daily basis? You are the funniest comedian of 2013.

    This article is embarrassing.

What he said Is a figure of speech. You guys are putting words in his mouth,

“So, according to Kanye West, only comedians should be heckled. Comedians, those lowly, horrible, simple-minded scumbags who just prance onstage and talk about whatever is on their mind. Those fuckers deserve to be verbally harrasses.”

The most mature part of this article:

“And to answer your question, Kanye. Yes, you do look like a “motherfucking comedian.” And you sound like one as well. Have you looked at yourself lately? ”

So he is the one degrading the idea of a comedian… ?

This is the guy who has had comedians and a bunch of his records…

You guys are so damn sensitive, it’s embarrassing. This is almost as much of a stretch as that small minded article on Alec Baldwin from 2 weeks ago.

I don’t particularly love Kanye but this is just immature nonsense. Leave the moral social judging to others, please.

Nicely said^^. Kanye is a fucking goon, but the article makes an asinine leap in logic. What is the #1 venue that comes to mind when you think about hecklers? A comedy venue.

What is weirder is that as writers who are thoroughly familiar with comedy (apparently), you know the effect of hecklers on a performance. Yet when you talk about Kanye and the heckler you sound just like those people who don’t know shit about comedy, but can always tell you what a comedian SHOULD be doing. The author(s) make the same assumption with Kanye that the boneheads make about standups: that a good comedian (“seasoned performer”, anyone?) should be able to handle or simply ignore a heckler. Your point is exactly as daft, punk.

Check out the following reaction (including errors) of a guy who read about Chappelle walking off stage after being heckled in Hartford. It could very well have been your own words about Kanye: “What a Schmuck! A self centered little crybaby. I’m glad I wasn:t there. I would have gone out of my mind getting that childish act after spending good money to see the show. I hope they give everyone their money back and go after him for pulling that crap. What an egotist! Anyone who ever pays to see this man again deserves to get screwed! Anyone who pulls that “it”s not my fault” tripe is so full of themselves it makes you sick to watch it! Total disreguard for his audience. What a Wingnut! If he is clueless on how to deal with hecklers, just watch any old Seinfeld episode. You just make it part of your act…that is,if you have witt and a sense of humor,,,not a mean streak!”

This article was written by a dummy. Or evidentially a collection of dummies…using one finger each.

I heard the lady who ‘heckled’ him on the radio tonight. Apparently her heckling amounted to ‘hey, what’s with the mask?’. That, apparently, is pretty much it. Kanye’s is pretty thin skinned. I just think maybe he’s convinced he’s way more interesting and important than he actually is.

I think what Kanye meant when he said “Do I look like a comedian?” meant more along the lines of “Comedians have to put up with hecklers when it happens but I do not” and honestly, this article is not very respectful to Kanye.

  • bozo

He doesn’t look like a motherfuckng comedian, just a motherfucking clown.

  • Bob

    Well that was a reach.

Can you just say you don’t like indignant ______

  • Jon Clem

He looks like a fool inside and outside the mask. My reaction says it all.

Kanye asserting his giant ego is just his personality. I think it’s interesting and different. I don’t always agree with what he does. But when he does something, my God is it fun to talk about. Don’t stop Kanye. The world would be boring without you. Then all we’d have is One Direction. Not only do they suck, but they do even do funny shit.
