NBC is putting another much-needed comedy into the ring for next season. Comedian Jerrod Carmichael has inked a deal to shoot a presentation for the Peacock Network. The project would be written by and star the comic, who had an acting arc on Fox’s The Goodwin Games. The potential show would center on a consummate optimist (Carmichael) who is eager to take on the world, but gets too busy dealing with every little issue that arises around him. This is not exactly an order for a pilot, but a presentation. It’s sort of like a collection of scenes and not a full story. In theory, if the execs enjoy it they could order a fully-produced pilot from the rising talent.
