On the heels of the blockbuster success of The Lego Movie and the release of The Simpsons real-life Lego set, Fox announced the longest-existing animated family (or any family) on television will get its own Lego episode in May. No other details about the episode’s plot or the type of animation employed – CGI? Stop-motion? – has been released.
But The Hollywood Reporter points out that, in addition to the limited-edition Lego sets, there will also be a Homer Simpson Mr. Potato Head and two Hot Wheels cars based on the one Homer built on the show. The report doesn’t specify, but we’re assuming the car will be The Homer, a car Bart’s dad created in season two. Last year, a real-life version of the car was created. (See video below). A second car, according to the report, will be released in June and will be part of a Grand Prix racing set designed by Hornby Scalextric. Many more Simpsons-themed toys and stunts are expected as Fox celebrates the show’s 25th anniversary.
