When Donald MacLeod, Head of Actuarial, joined the team of investment and insurance firm Scottish Friendly, he likely didn’t expect that slinging jokes would be part of the gig. But that’s exactly what’s about to pass. On March 5, MacLeod will hit the stage at the Park Bar in Glasgow in an attempt to break the World Record for most jokes told in one hour.

MacLeod, aka Donnie Maroot, needs to fire off at least 550 jokes in 60 minutes if he wants to best Australian Anthony Lehmann who set the current record in 2005. Of course, if Donnie fails, it won’t matter much since this is all being done for charity.

Sponsored by Scottish Friendly, the event will raise funds for The Bethedsa Care Home and Hospice in Stornoway, Harris House in Tarbert, Tagsa Uibhist in Benbecula and Cobhair Bhrraigh in Castlebay. If you’d like to donate, head on over to Donnie’s JustGiving. page. You can also check out a video interview with Donnie below.
