In a piece of unsurprising news, FX as greenlighted a new comedy series starring the iconic Billy Crystal and Josh Gad, of Book of Mormon and Frozen fame. Production on 13 episodes will begin later this year with plans to debut the show in 2015. Deadline first reported the series pick-up.

The pilot was first announced in May of last year, with Gad joining the project three months later. The show, titled The Comedians, is based on a Swedish series that aired in 2004. Crystal will play a tremendously famous veteran comedian (do your stretching, Billy!) while Gad will play an edgier, younger comic. Both work on a late-night sketch comedy show. Begin, hijinks!

Crystal, who found huge success on the big screen for decades, last had an ongoing television gig when he starred on Soap from 1977 – 1981 while Gad co-starred on 1600 Penn, which was canceled last year after only one season.
