The fabled Cheech & Chong reunion film is back on! After announcing in 2005 that they’ve canceled plans to star in a new feature film, CelebStoner.com reports that Tommy Chong has confirmed a script is in the works. Super Troopers director (and mustache ride giver) Jay Chandrasekhar is working with the pot-smoking duo. “He’s working a script right now for us,” Chong reportedly says. “It looks really good. It’s about us going to a festival called the Burning Joint. All sorts of shenanigans happen.” They could start shooting potentially as soon as this summer, although financing and a final script have not yet been confirmed. This would be their first feature film since Still Smokin in 1983.
Chandrasekhar also directed the 2006 comedy Beerfest, which was rumored to produce a sequel called Potfest. It may be possible that one film morphed into the other, since he’s the one who approached Cheech Marin and Chong in the first place.
