Ray Romano will continue to stretch his dramatic acting legs in Martin Scorsese’s untitled Rock ‘n’ Roll pilot for HBO. The Oscar-winning director is executive producing, along with Mick Jagger, George Mastras and Terrence Winter, the drama set in 1970s New York. The show will explore the drug- and sex-fueled music business through the eyes of record executive Richie Finestra (played by Blue Jasmine’s Bobby Cannavale). Romano will play Richie’s right hand man Zak Yankovich, a tough and sharp-witted Head of Promotions at Finestra’s label. The Everybody Loves Raymond comedian joins Olivia Wilde and Juno Temple in the high-profile pilot. He currently appears on Parenthood after a few years leading Men of a Certain Age. This would be Romano’s first series at HBO where shows are not restricted by the censorship of the broadcast networks that he is accustomed to.
