Amy Poehler hopes to make Fuse host Billy Eichner a sitcom star at the USA network. The Saturday Night Live alum has signed on to executive produce Difficult People, created by and starring Eichner. USA wants a pilot presentation from the show about two best friends and frustrated comedians in New York City who love pop culture and hate everyone else. The sassy comedian created the show with longtime friend Julie Klausner, who will star opposite Eichner. Klausner already serves as head writer and co-executive producer on Fuse’s Billy on the Street. Poehler has had a long-standing relationship with Eichner tracing back to his Upright Citizen Brigade days. She’s appeared on his man-on-the-street game show several times and he had a recurring role on the sixth season of NBC’s Parks and Recreation (and might even return as a series regular).

Poehler has been serving a lot of off-screen roles recently, having turned a popular web series Broad City into a smash hit on Comedy Central. She’s currently writing and executive producing a pilot for NBC called Old Soul starring Orange Is The New Black‘s Natasha Lyonne. On screen, she stars opposite Paul Rudd in a romantic comedy They Come Together due in theaters this summer and will reunite with Tina Fey to star in The Nest in December 2015. Poehler’s Leslie Knope returns this fall for the seventh season of Parks and Recreation on NBC. Billy on the Street is currently in its third season on the Fuse network.
