Triumph the Insult Comic Dog is coming to Adult SwimAfter renewing Children’s Hospital for a sixth season, Adult Swim has announced its full programming slate for the 2014-2015 season. It’s filled with many new faces and returning favorites. In addition to Rob Corddry’s hospital satire, The Eric Andre Show, Robot Chicken, The Venture Bros. (including a separate half-hour special), Black Dynamite and The Boondocks (sans creator Aaron McGruder) are among the returning comedies. Also renewed are: Aqua TV Show Show; China, IL; The Heart, She Holler; Hot Package; Infomercials; Loiter Squad; Newsreaders; Rick and Morty; Squidbillies; Superjail! and Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell.

Aaron McGruder separated from The Boondocks for this season but will stay at Adult Swim. His half-hour live-action series Black Jesus got a series order from the network. The show stars comedian Gerald “Slink” Johnson as Jesus living in present-day Compton on a daily mission to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood. The concept, which started as a former Adult Swim web series, harks back to an early Boondocks episode where McGruder postulates a world where Martin Luther King Jr. had not been assassinated and what he would be like in present-day America. The show also features Charlie Murphy and John Witherspoon. Black Jesus is scheduled for this summer.

Mike Tyson will lead his own half-hour animated adult comedy, Mike Tyson Mysteries. Naturally, the former undisputed heavyweight champion of the world leaves the boxing ring to hit the streets solving quizzical mysteries, aided by the Mike Tyson Mystery Team. Seriously. His fellow sleuths include a ghost, his adopted Korean daughter, and a talking pigeon. Comedian Norm Macdonald, Rachel Ramras and Jim Rash (fresh off the cancelation of NBC’s Community) also star. The show premieres this fall.

Also coming to Adult Swim is a project from Robert Smigel with his Triumph the Insult Comic Dog puppet. The live-action series currently referred to as Untitled Triumph/McBrayer Sitcom features 30 Rock’s Jack McBrayer as a former child star who’s reunited with his crude but beloved former canine co-star, Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Mr. Pickles comes from Will Carsola and Dave Stewart. It’s a quarter-hour comedy coming this fall about a deviant border collie with a secret satanic streak. Tim & Eric’s Bedtime Stories comes from the creative team of Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim. Their return to Adult Swim comes in the form of an anthology series similar to the old Twilight Zone stories. Each episode offers a unique tale: dark, horrifying, perverse, insane…hilarious. The live-action half-hour series premieres this summer.
