Tina Fey’s new NBC comedy series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt just added another fellow 30 Rock alum to its crew. Jane Krakowski will play a recurring role on the new show starring former The Office star Ellie Kemper. Kemper plays Kimmy, who after 15 years of living in a cult decides it’s time to reclaim her life and heads to New York City. Krakowski will play a rich Upper West Side mom who hires Kimmy as a nanny. The role was originally played by Megan Dodds (CSI: New York) in the pilot, but NBC closed a deal with Krakowski when her comedy pilot Dead Boss was not picked up by Fox. This isn’t the first time the comedic actress has replaced someone after a pilot was shot. Her character on 30 Rock was played by former Saturday Night Live cast member Rachel Dratch in the pilot episode. Seems like Fey wanted to stick to a familiar face on Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, which received a direct-to-series order from NBC before they even shot a pilot!
