Eastbound & Down’s Danny McBride back with HBO for ‘Vice Principals’

kenny powers danny mcbride.jpgDanny McBride is recovering pretty well in the wake of his FX animated series Chozen being cancelled. HBO has ordered another show from McBride after the smashing success Eastbound & Down. Vice Principals will star the This Is The End actor as one of two vice principals who co-run a high school. “HBO was the perfect creative family for Eastbound & Down and we’re excited to pack up the van for the next adventure,” the star commented. Fans and critics alike fell in love with his Kenny Powers character, a former professional baseball pitcher The show ended its run after four seasons on the premium cable channel. HBO programming president Michael Lombardo said in a statement, “Danny McBride and [co-creator] Jody Hill have created a smart, rowdy and unpredictable style of comedy that we can’t get enough of. The idea of them setting their minds on high school was irresistible.” No premiere date or production start has been announced but Vice Principals will have an 18-episode first season on HBO.
