Under official FIFA World Cup rules, the US national team can bring in a replacement player until injured forward Jozy Altidore can return to the tournament after previously falling prey to a strained hamstring. Team USA may had a special weapon crash the #FanHQ party in Recife, Brazil, where today’s important match against Germany took place. Anchorman 2 star Will Ferrell dropped by the party to let fans this morning know that he is ready to take the field, although “I’m not in the best shape,” he admitted. Ferrell, a sports fan who is set to play Bobby Riggs in the tennis movie Match Maker, was very enthusiastic ensuring the public that he would be prepared to do whatever it takes should he take the field against Germany in the final first round match of the World Cup. “I’ll bite every German player that I have to!” he shouted, alluding to Uruguay striker Luis Suarez who bit an Italian player during an earlier match. Although Ferrell has starred in plenty of sports movies from Semi-Pro to Talladega Nights, let’s just hope that Altidore is ready to hit the pitch now that the US has moved on to the Round of 16, despite us losing to Germany.
