‘Community’ going to Yahoo Screen: Dan Harmon announces 13 episode sixth season will live online

Community goes to Yahoo! ScreenDan Harmon, the creator and executive producer of cult comedy Community, announced today that the quirky ensemble comedy, recently canceled by NBC, will have a sixth season on Yahoo! Screen, the online streaming service that has found huge success with original and acquired comedy programming. “I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo,” Harmon said today. “I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, Bang Bus!”

‘“The reports of our cancelation have been greatly exaggerated.’ —Mark Twain (The other version of this quote has been wrong for years).,'” Joel Mchale, who plays Jeff Winger on Community, said before tweeting the hashtag #SixSeasonsAndaMovie. “Thank you Sony. Thank you Yahoo. Thank you Dan Harmon. And thank you to the greatest f%$#ing fans in the history of the human race. It’s the Internet. We can swear now.”

Yahoo! Screen has been a massive online destination for comedy the past few years. It gave birth to the successful Burning Love franchise and now also houses Saturday Night Live‘s digital archive– not to mention original series like Jack Black’s Ghost Girls and Losing it with John Stamos.
