Comedy Central may add comedian Kurt Braunohler to its late-night landscape. The network ordered a pilot for Getting’ Some Strange with Kurt Braunohler. The late-night talk show would feature Braunohler covering strange stories of the day, revealing just how beautifully insane our world actually is. He’ll also executive produce. The comedian is a Comedy Central favorite, having worked on a various projects there including web series Roustabout with Kurt Braunohler. In addition to appearing on friend Kristen Schaal’s Comedy Central Presents special, he had his own episode of The Half Hour air in July.
Comedy Central seems to be remodeling their late-night shows with the imminent departure of Stephen Colbert, who will move to CBS to host Late Show, and the smash success of Chris Hardwick’s @midnight. The network announced a 40-week second season of @midnight this week and will replace The Colbert Report with fellow former Daily Show correspondent Larry Wilmore and his comedy news show The Minority Report. The openings left by Jay Leno, David Letterman & Craig Ferguson (not to mention Chelsea Handler over at E!) have reverberated back into cable as a new wave of talk show hosts plant their footings.
