As iconic comedian Joan Rivers slowly comes out of her medically induced coma today, E! has suspended production on Fashion Police, the show on which Rivers co-hosts alongside Kelly Osbourne, Giuliana Rancic and George Kotsiopoulos. “We will not be producing a ‘Fashion Police’ this week or next as we await Joan and Melissa’s return in front and behind the camera,” the network announced. “E! will be airing two ‘E! From Fashion Week’ specials that will deliver the latest news and information from the highly-anticipated event.”

UPDATE: Melissa Rivers issued a statement at around 1:15 pm ET, saying the following: “On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we’ve received. At this time she does remain on life support. I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers.”

Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York on Aug. 28 after she stopped breathing during an outpatient throat surgery at a nearby endoscopy clinic. Later that day, Rivers was put into a medically induced coma, which she’s expected to come out of today. Melissa Rivers, Joan’s daughter, released a statement later that day, saying, ”I want to thank everyone for the overwhelming love and support for my mother. She is resting comfortably and is with our family. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts and prayers.”

The next day, Melissa Rivers issued a second statement: “My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery.” In the meantime, Joan Rivers’ Fashion Police co-hosts — not to mention many other fellow comedians and celebrities — have taken to Twitter to show their love and support.

Check out Joan Rivers’ appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers from early August.
