anders holm.jpgIt seems like audiences will see How I Met Your Dad on CBS this fall. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news of the series order, but quickly updated to note that CBS bigwigs and 20th Century Fox Television deny that such a decision has been made.  How I Met Your Mother ended in March after 9 seasons on the air. How I Met Your Dad, or #HIMYD to the Twittersphere, stars Frances, Ha actress Greta Gerwig as Sally, “a female Peter Pan who has never grown up and has no idea of where she’s going in life.” Gerwig will serve as executive producer and writer. Workaholics star Anders Holm, like fellow Comedy Central star Stephen Colbert, will appear on CBS to play the role of Gavin, Sally’s soon-to-be ex -husband. Last month, we reported that Meg Ryan will serve as the show’s narrator, the grown-up version of Sally looking back on her past. Drew Tarver, Tiya Sircar, Nick D’Agosto and Andrew Santino also co-star.

How I Met Your Dad is CBS’ first comedy pick-up of the season and joins The Big Bang Theory, Mike & Molly, 2 Broke Girls, The Millers, Mom and Two and a Half Men on the network’s impressive comedy line-up. The much-talked about pilot was a huge favorite to receive a series order from the Eye network. How I Met Your Mother was one of the most successful sitcoms of the last decade and a spin-off from the female point-of-view must have seemed like a no-brainer for CBS CEO Les Moonves.
